Summer Yoga and Walking Retreat

Summer Solstice Yoga and Coastal Walk Retreat in Dorset

Summer Retreat

Almost all of us have had experiences of stillness and peacefulness, and we feel connected to ourselves, others and the universe.

Curiously, this state of being doesn’t seem to be accessible to most of us on demand. Rather, they happen simultaneously – a moment appears and we feel a sense of wholeness, community and oneness. We’re no longer separate, and we become the same midnight sky that fills us with awe. It feels… exquisite. And just as quickly, the moment is gone! And all we have is a memory of an experience.

I invite you to join us on this residential summer retreat. It’s an opportunity to be together and celebrate the approach of the summer solstice. In modern life, chances to truly connect with each other can be few and far between. But this connection is essential to our wellbeing – sharing space and energy is a reminder that we are not alone, and we are fellow journeyers in this life.

“The only thing that is ultimately real about your journey is the step that you are taking at this moment. That is all there ever is.”

– Eckhart Tolle

Coastal Walk

This residential retreat will make the most of our beautiful location here at the Bride Valley, and feature a gentle walk along Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. As we enter the summer season, I find that I am always drawn to water. It’s a time of strong, high energy, and the water is a reminder to flow with lightness and grace.

Slow Flow Yoga

In yoga, how we transition from one pose to the next is as important as the pose itself. As we transition into the new season, we want to move ourselves with intention and gratitude. We begin the retreat with a slow flow yoga session to ground ourselves into the space we are about to create and share together, set our intention for the season ahead and say thank you to the spring as it wanes behind us.

Hatha Flow Yoga

We will greet the mornings in hatha flow yoga, awakening our bodies and uplifting our energy as we prepare for the day ahead. This is a great time to connect with ourselves, come together as a group and notice the beautiful nature that surrounds us, receiving it with presence in our body.

Rest and Recharge Yoga

Over this weekend retreat, we will also be exploring restorative yoga postures that are designed for the body to let go, surrender and relax completely and totally. These sessions are an opportunity to connect deeply with our bodies and our inner world. It’s a chance to connect with the earth and surrender everything we are holding to the ground with the energy and safety of the space we have created with each other.

Wholefood Meals

Over the course of this weekend, meals will be as much a part of the residential retreat as anything else. Mealtimes are to nourish and replenish the body, but it’s also an opportunity to break bread together and enjoy the company of each other.

We will provide scrumptious plant-based meals, energising refreshments and tasty snacks that will support all the work that we will be doing in the studio.

Time in Nature

This retreat is also an opportunity to take time for yourself, and to simply enjoy the wonder of nature. The cottage overlooks wonderful views of the Bride Valley, and there will be plenty of space to sit in the garden, cosy up for a fireside chat, or simply lie on the grass and be in awe of the universe and the cosmos.

Bride Valley

Our studio and cottage are nestled right in the heart of the Bride Valley – an area of outstanding natural beauty. Surveying the valley, you will see manor houses, large farmsteads, small villages with limestone and thatch cottages dotting the landscape. Looking out into the horizon, we can’t help but be embraced by a feeling of tranquility.

The view meanders in ribbons of wet woodland, winding rural lanes and the occasional coastal view that appears like a dream when the mist clears.

Whether you’re coming for the day or a weekend, summer or winter – this idyllic setting never fails to offer peace and beauty.

The Cottage

The cottage accommodates our retreats, and it’s also available as a holiday let. It’s a spacious yet cozy Grade II listed building, featuring wooden beams, stone walls and a wood burner that keeps the hearth of the home.

It’s ideally located in a peaceful village in the Bride Valley, and a stone’s throw away from Dorset’s Jurassic Coast. Less than 5 miles away is the National Trust Hive Beach, with a popular café perfect for a refreshment break during a long coastal walk.
